Collapse of Morbi Bridge

Diwali is one of the most important Hindu festivals. This Festival of Lights is celebrated for five/six days and during this year's celebration, a horrible tragedy happened. The bridge collapsed in Morbi, India, and at least 141 people died, and it is expected that the death toll will rise further. Furthermore, most of those who didn't make it were women, children, and the elderly. Happily, over 177 people have been salvaged and it's all hands on deck to rescue the survivors. The local official statement said that the bridge collapsed because it was overpacked.

It is a terrible accident which is a caution for further events like that. Overcrowding is a treacherous and inconspicuous danger that people should be aware of.  There were over 500 people on the bridge, previously the limit was 15, and the fact that it was built in the 19th century doesn't make this situation any better. It's another case in a series of tragedies caused by congestion.
