Just Stop Oil protests

On Friday two fossil fuel protestors threw tomato soup on Van Gogh's painting. It took place in London at the National Gallery and they doused well-known "Sunflowers" with the contents of two tins of Heinz tomato soup. Luckily there was only some modest damage to the frame and the painting was unscathed. The incident on Friday is the most recent in a series of protests focused on drawing attention to the role of fossil resources in climate change. There were much more affairs like that. For example in July,  Just Stop Oil members glued themselves to a replica of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" at the Royal Academy of Art in London.

I have ambivalent feelings concerning this occurrence. I get that global warming is a complicated problem on a big scale, but on the other hand, I don't know if it is the way the issue should be attracted. Perhaps places associated with nonrenewable fuels and climate variability would be better places to protest. Also, I’m not sure how famous art pieces are connected to climate change and fossil fuel problems. But as long as they mean no harm to those painting, sculptures, etc. maybe it is not so bad idea how to draw mass attention.
